Treatments can begin with an optional session of up to 60 minutes in the AromaCology Suite. The suite consists of AromaSpace – a lounge where you can experience the power of scent and enjoy some herbal teas. There are three thermal aromatherapy experiences to try before your treatment: AromaSteam – infused with essential oils to enhance the physiological effect of steam, AromaSauna – with herbal blends to tone, detoxify and rejuvenate and AromaStream – an outdoor thermal relaxation tub.

AromaSpa Protocol: This is your relaxation time and we want to ensure that we do everything we can to make your experience at AromaSpa as enjoyable as possible. For your comfort and enjoyment please observe the following when using the facilities at AromaSpa.

Check in: Your appointment time will have been confirmed during the reservation process and, if requested at time of booking, will incorporate a 60 minute session in the AromaCology Suite. For a stress-free check-in and some time to unwind before your treatment we would suggest that you arrive at Kilgraney House at least 30 minutes prior to your allocated appointment time. Guests may check in at AromaSpa up to five minutes before appointment times. We adhere to a prompt appointment schedule. If you are late for your appointment we regret that we may only be able to offer you the time remaining on your treatment slot.

Cancellation policy:

If you cancel your treatment with less than 24 hours notice you will be charged the total cost of the treatment. Treatment times & prices are subject to change without notification. Credit card details are required to secure bookings.

Opening hours: AromaSpa is open, by appointment only, Saturday, 10.00am to 6.00pm. Other days, by prior arrangement and subject to a minimum of two therapies in series.

Treatment duration: A short time for consultation at the beginning and relaxation at the end of each treatment is included in the treatment times.

Medical considerations: Please inform your therapist of any medical conditions or skin allergies, if you are taking any medication or if you are pregnant. All our treatments contain essential oils so please enquire about our pregnancy safety policy when making your reservation.

AromaSpa therapists are trained to provide Mother-to-Be treatments and Renew Rose massage and Renew Rose facials are both suitable during pregnancy. Aromatherapy massage, however, is not recommended during the first trimester. If you are in any doubt please consult your medical practitioner in advance of your visit.

What to bring: AromaSpa provides a stress-reducing, tranquil experience, so please turn off your mobile phone before you enter AromaSpa. We will provide you with fresh towels and complimentary use of robe and slippers for your personal use during your visit. Jewellery should not be worn during your visit as it can easily be lost or affected by treatments.

Suitable undergarments should be worn during treatments. When using the wet areas (AromaSteam, AromaSauna, AromaStream) you are required to wear a bathing suit (non-cotton, if possible, for the AromaStream outdoor thermal tub).

AromaSpa etiquette:

Please take a shower prior to using the AromaSteam, AromaSauna and AromaStream facilities.

In order to maintain water quality in the outdoor thermal tub guests are kindly requested to shower, without using soap, before using this facility.

DO NOT USE THE HOT TUB if you are pregnant or if you use artificial tanning products, body loyions or any oil-based cosmetic. Such products seriously affects water quality.

The AromaStream outdoor thermal tub may not open in severe weather or seasonal condition that affect water quality, such as falling buds in spring, falling leaves and berries in autumn.

What to do: If you are not sure what treatment to choose, ask your therapist for assistance.

It is best to avoid exposure to the sun on the day of your treatment.

It is preferable not to eat (or drink alcohol) for at least an hour before an aromatherapy treatment. We do not recommend using any thermal therapies if you have eaten a meal within the previous two hours.

Ensure that you remain hydrated and drink plenty of fluids (water or herbal teas) before and after your treatments, especially if taking thermal therapies, such as AromaSauna or AromaSteam. Drinking a glass of water before and after your massage is important as it helps to flush out toxins.

A warm shower or a relaxing time in the AromaSauna or AromaSteam facilities before a massage or body treatment is often a good idea as it helps to loosen the muscles. Spend a maximum of 15 minutes in each experience and please cool down with a shower between experiences. Listen to your body – if you feel light-headed, dizzy or nauseous discontinue use immediately and inform a member of the AromaSpa team.

During your treatment please provide your therapist with feedback on the strength of the massage you prefer. Also, please inform the therapist of any injuries or areas requiring more or less attention.

To experience the full benefits of our treatments the aromatherapy products used should remain on the skin for at least eight hours, therefore the use of the AromaSteam, AromaSauna or AromaStream outdoor thermal tub following an aromatherapy treatment is not recommended.
